Players during their turns roll the dice and moves forward on the game board. If two gladiators meet on the same space - the battle begins. After the game ends, the player are awarded for their achievements with golden sandals. The winner is decided by counting the golden sandals each character owns.
Also, besides fighting, Tavern Quests offers a huge varriety of minigames. Better results in minigames nets more coins, which can be spend to buy better equipment.
